Prior to the launch of this card, there were only a handful of credit cards out there with a $500 credit limit for student (see previous article here). Now, Bank of China has launched the F1RST Visa card in its attempt to penetrate the already saturated local market.
Some features include:
1. 0.5% rebate
-honestly 0.5% rebate is paltry for a credit card, but this is double than the 0.25% rebate offered by its rival Standard Chartered Manhattan card.
2. 1 for 1 treats
-Get 1 for 1 offers at Cathay Cineplex for movie tickets, Haagen Daz ice cream, or regular sized Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Cafe Latte (limited to first 200)
3. 2 year fee waiver
-Generally an accepted norm to get annual fee waiver with some spending
Apply now and receive a complimentary Adventure Cove Waterpark™ One-Day Adult Pass (Worth S$36) if you are among the first 2,000 new-to-bank customers who apply for BOC F1RST Card by 31 October 2014 and charge any amount to the card within one (1) month from the date of card approval.
All in all, it is an alternative for students or people who have just entered the workforce due to the low qualifying income of $18k per annum, but there are other better cards out there if you are looking for rebates and deals.
