Alright, so this was my preferred card for dining at restaurants and drinks at bar since they offer 5% cash rebate in this category, with a cap at $30 optimum (maximum $600 spending a month). However, as stated on their website, there is a NEED to select the category that you want this 5% cash rebate before the 25th of EACH quarter (i.e. Mar, Jun, Sep and December). If you missed it, then all the spending for that quarter will be 1% instead, and you will be better off using other cards for dining instead.

I just noticed this only yesterday. Previously if I remember correctly, the category stays the same until we choose the next, it changes suddenly which isn’t what I have signed up for. Now they are showing the petty side of them.
Well, it goes easy, if anyone missed out on the registration that quarter, then use other cards. ie. Amex cash back- 1.5%.

Also, are you able to share if we can check if the category we have selected is registered? After choosing via NRIC and DOB, we don’t get any confirmation that this is registered and in a way, dispute may arise when the bill comes.

Might be good if you could share on how the optimum card gives its rebates. ie. before 25th Jun register and rebates will be given out by when once we qualify and how do we check them

    Thanks a lot

      Hi there,
I don’t remember them sending any SMS when I registered for the category. Guess you just have to take note and register in time.
The rebates are given out at the start of the next quarter after you apply i.e. if you apply now, you earn 1% on that category till Oct when you will earn 5%.
