It’s more than 2 years since the last update, and as you can see, the list is much longer as new cards have been added and some cards have been dropped as T&C change. The latest contender UOB YOLO has also been added to the list, but honestly there are better cards around as you can see from the list.
The best card
From the list, one can see that CIMB Visa Signature offers the highest rate of 10% for online spending but this is on foreign currency and the requirements are tough – $500 of spending a month and 8 transactions of $30 each at least. Next up would be Stanchart’s Singpost Visa card which gives 7% – which is fairly decent without much exclusion criteria, and you just have to take note of the cap of $60 a month (max. $860) and minimum spend of $600. Bank of China’s Shop Visa card is fairly decent with a cashback rate of 5.5-6% and a minimum spend of $500, and you can pair it with your departmental spend to chalk up the minimum spend.
If you are just looking for a once-off spending online then DBS Women’s World MasterCard or UOB Preferred Platinum Visa would be preferred since there is no minimum spend and the earn rate is good at 4 miles/$1 (alternatively you can get cashback but the rate is not as great). However, do note that the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa has a lot of exclusion criteria for online spending whereas the DBS Women’s World MasterCard has no such exclusion criteria. For the latter, do note that the 10X points is only for the first $2000 online spending per calendar month, and of course, this card is for the ladies only.
