Cheaptickets is an OTA (overseas travel agent) that I regularly use to book my flights.

Generally, I will use of these OTA (usually either Cheaptickets, Wego or Zuji just to name a few) to check the various airlines that I can take to travel. Then, I will check out the official website e.g. Singapore Airlines or Asiana Airlines to see the prices for the same class status.

On most occasions, the OTAs will be slightly cheaper due to promotional rates offered to them by the airline. Take a look at the example below to see what I mean:

I compared the prices on Asiana Airlines and Cheaptickets and realised that it was $50 less when I purchased through Cheaptickets! What’s more, there was a $20 promotional code that I could use and I received a total discount of $70! Subsequently, with the booking reference sent by Cheaptickets, I received the E-ticket from Asiana airlines and it confirmed that the fare amount was worth $1421.40, and the booking fare class was exactly the same as if I booked through Asiana Airlines! As such, it always pays to take advantage of promotional codes and always compare the ticket prices carefully.

Total price $1351.40 paid to Cheaptickets

Ticket issued by Asiana was $1421.40
