2 years ago, Apple Pay was launched in Singapore, and all 5 local banks were onboard rather quickly (read old article here).

Surprisingly, it took 2 years for Citibank to get onboard Apple Pay, but the wait was worth it, and it is currently giving a whooping 8 miles per dollar return when you use your Citibank Ultima, Prestige or Rewards credit cards on Apple Pay! That’s definitely the best deal in the market, on par with the occasional Citibank Rewards promotion with Amazon or Lazada where you hit the same accrual rate as well.

Of course, there are other Citibank credit cards that are accepted for Apple Pay – including rebate cards like the Citibank Cash Back, Citibank SMRT and Citi M1 cards where you get 5% in terms of rebates. As for Citi PremierMiles Visa Card (not AMEX unfortunately), you earn 4 miles per dollar, which is not too shabby too!

The terms and conditions are pretty long, but the summarised version is here:

  1. All transactions have to be in SGD (perhaps overseas transactions paid in SGD are counted too? But bear in mind you will pay more for the DCC cost)
  2. Citibank Rewards credit card will remain at 4 mpd for transactions that already earn the bonus rewards points under the Citi Rewards 20x Rewards or the Citi Rewards 10x Rewards promotions (e.g. if you spend at departmental stores or stores selling shoes, bags or clothes).
  3. There is no mention of the cap on Citibank Rewards credit card (possibly can exceed the $12k annual limit imposed on the 4mpd promotion in stores?) or other cards
  4. In app payments (e.g. Singapore Airlines or Uber) with Apple Pay are eligible for this promotion too

The original Citibank promotional page is here.
