Tons of tourists flock to Japan for sakura or cheery blossom viewing every year during end Mar or early April. It is the start of spring, when the weather warms up, and it also symbolises renewal, vitality and beauty. There’s actually a sakura forecast annually, based on previous weather patterns.

If you haven’t booked your air tickets by now, they may be pretty expensive. However, there is a way to score cheap business class tickets on SQ (Singapore Airlines) to Tokyo!

Looking at the chart above from SQ, the cheapest business class ticket for 1 from Singapore to Tokyo is $3328.90. However, one way of finding a cheaper flight is to seek for alternative outbound locations e.g. Bangkok, which can be seen below.

Post conversion, THB 68260 is around S$2879, which is slightly cheaper. But bear in mind that you need to book another flight to Bangkok and back which will cost additional $. However, one can always treat it as an additional holiday in Bangkok isn’t it (make that twice somemore!)?

Of course, importantly, one must always do some research and compare prices first. Using Skyscanner, I searched for flights from BKK-TOK on the same dates and managed to find tickets on Cheaptickets at $1724!

Then, there is also the important step of confirming that the price is correct on Cheaptickets. Cheaptickets is actually an OTA (Overseas Travel Agent), and I’ve bought tickets from them a few times with no issues. Furthermore, they have promotional codes from time to time that reduces the air fare even lower.

Do note that these tickets are D class fares, which will accrue 125% miles on Krisflyer Rewards programme.

And that’s how you can fly to Tokyo on a discounted Business  Class ticket that will earn you full miles but at a cheap rate of $1724! However, these fares are while stocks last – grab them while they are still available!

Hi, I noted that there is a stopover in SG in each leg of the flight. So do we need to board at bangkok or can we board the plane only when it is in SG? Similarly, can we alight at SG without going to bangkok in the return leg?

Yes, you need to start the first leg e.g. BKK-SIN if not the ticket would not be valid. As for the last leg, you can call in to SQ to ask to do a stopover in singapore, meaning you can push back the SIN-BKK trip to a couple of months later. You get 1 free stopover per roundtrip 🙂
