Many of my friends have asked which is the best credit card for mile accrual in Singapore. For the longest time ever, I have been a loyal support of the Krisflyer AMEX gold card until I realised there are new competitors in the market with better offers.
Do note that there are promotions for various cards from time to time, and the rate of accrual would hence vary. For now, taking a reference of $12000 spent locally within a calendar year, both DBS Altitude and UOB PRVI are on par (but UOB PRVI is better as there is no minimum spend of $2000 per mth). However bear in mind that you actually earn DBS points and UNI$ respectively for your spend and these are then converted to miles equivalent. As such, your spendings are rounded down to the nearest $5, so you may need to spend more than $12k for the 192000 miles. For overseas spending, UOB PRVI is having a promotion till end of the year, after that should there be no renewal, ANZ Travel Visa would definitely be the best for overseas spending. Do refer to my previous post on overseas spending for other credit cards.
ANZ Travel Visa, Citibank Premiermiles and DBS Altitude are all offering bonus miles when you pay for renewal the second year. This would be good if you need those few precious miles to exchange for your free air ticket or free upgrade.
Personally, having free lounge access is great for long haul flights where you need to transit and wait for a few hours. Apart from providing meals and drinks, the lounges also provide free shower facilities and some have WIFI facilities as well. The free priority pass with ANZ Travel Visa, Citibank Premiermiles and DBS Altitude come with 2 free access per year so apply and use wisely!
Last but not least, do take note of the expiry date of the miles and note the amount that you need to pay for conversion of these miles to your favourite frequent flyer account.
